Stage 1. Needs Assessment & Usability Audit
Initiated the project with an in-depth assessment of user needs through heuristic evaluation, user surveys, and interviews with the Muslim community. Identified pain points in existing Islamic lifestyle apps, including fragmented access to prayer schedules, lack of personalization in Qur’an study tools, and limited community engagement features.
Stage 2. Design Strategy & Roadmap
Formulated a holistic design strategy focused on simplifying access to Islamic resources, personalizing spiritual reminders, and fostering stronger digital community bonds. Established a structured roadmap that prioritized essential features—such as accurate prayer time integration, daily Islamic reminders, and Qur’an recitation tools—while outlining long-term enhancements like AI-driven guidance and community discussion forums.
Stage 3. Prototype Development
Wireframing: Redesigned key flows to streamline user interaction with prayer schedules, Qur’an reading, and goal setting for personal Islamic growth. Prioritized a frictionless and spiritually enriching user journey.
High-Fidelity Prototyping: Built detailed prototypes in Figma that visualized the complete app experience, blending modern aesthetics with Islamic-inspired design elements. Ensured usability while maintaining spiritual resonance.
User Interface Design: Established a cohesive visual identity using calming color palettes, elegant typography, and culturally resonant iconography, reinforcing the app’s role as both functional and spiritually uplifting.
Stage 4. User Testing & Iteration
Conducted usability testing with diverse users across age groups and levels of religious engagement. Gathered practical feedback on clarity, accessibility, and emotional resonance of the app. Iteratively refined the interface, improving the navigation experience, strengthening Qur’an study tools, and enhancing notification systems to align with daily spiritual practices.
Stage 5. Development & Launch Enablement
Worked collaboratively with developers to integrate frontend interfaces, backend systems, and accurate prayer time APIs. Addressed design-to-development gaps by providing ongoing documentation and design guidance. Supported the soft launch and monitored user engagement closely, capturing insights for continuous improvement and post-launch feature scaling.
OUTCOMES
Through this end-to-end project, I strengthened my expertise in user-centered design, culturally aligned UI/UX practices, and cross-functional collaboration. The Qalbu Ummah app emerged as a personalized Islamic digital assistant, bridging modern technology with daily spiritual needs.
